Juvenile Probation System

The Juvenile Justice System known as PROJECT 1 was originally written by a Harris County department called CIMS - the County Information Management System. JIMS assumed responsibility for all juvenile justice programming on March 1, 1997. Subsequently, JIMS programmers worked closely with the Juvenile Probation Department to convert the existing PROJECT 1 system to Model 204. The new Juvenile Justice System (JJS) was implemented on June 5, 1999.

On January 1, 1996 JIMS successfully implemented a Model 204 subsystem known as JOT - Juvenile Offender Tracking. JOT is used to track class B misdemeanors or above that have been committed since January 1, 1996 by a child who was older than 9 and less than 17 when the offense was committed.

JOT automates the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) reports required by DPS. In addition, JOT builds a database of officer, juvenile, charge, witness and complainant information. It allows agencies to share information and reduces repetitive data entry.

In March, 2006 the Juvenile Warrant system was successfully placed into production as part of the JIMS2 Project.

In November, 2007 the Juvenile Casework system was successfully placed into production as part of the JIMS2 Project.
