| The Message Subsystem (MSG) | Top |
The message (MSG) subsystem is an electronic mail network for all JIMS M204 users. This system is often used for correspondence and has a print feature so that messages may be printed if desired. A message may be sent to one user, multiple users or defined groups. A message may be easily replied to, copied and saved. In many cases the MSG subsystem has replaced the typed memo sent through the U.S. or interoffice mail.

| Court Coordinator Scheduling Subsystem (CCS) | Top |
The court coordinator scheduling subsystem (CCS) is designed to handle a complex scheduling problem for the Administrative Office of the District Courts. Within the county's 22 criminal and 25 civil district courts, there are 47 coordinators who manage the courts' daily dockets. When these personnel request time off, their positions must be filled by substitutes. CCS allows the Administrative Office to easily track time-off requests and to maintain a substitute schedule, thus ensuring that the courts are staffed at all times.

| Employee Time Management Subsystem (ETM) | Top |
The employee time management (ETM) subsystem is designed to record time worked and time off and to assist the departmental payroll clerk in keeping employee time records. It also serves as a mechanism for employees to request time off in advance and to allow management to review these requests online and respond by approving or rejecting them. This system is used by JIMS; a similar system (ETS) is used by Pre-Trial Services.

| Security Subsystem (SEC) | Top |
The security (SEC) subsystem allows the training group to generate, change and delete JIMS security codes. It allows project analysts to request action on codes and will display total numbers of pending requests. SEC also allows records to be updated with name changes and department changes.
|
| Training and Scheduling Subsystem (TRN) | Top |
The training and scheduling (TRN) subsystem documents all events scheduled for the JIMS training and meeting rooms. It prevents scheduling conflicts, allows personnel to be scheduled for the events, and is used to document attendance. Project analysts use TRN to schedule their personnel for JIMS training classes and to verify attendance after class. This system is also used to generate reports listing all training performed for any requested date range, the departments that sent personnel to training and attendance statistics for each class and each department.
|
| User Work Request Subsystem (UWR) | Top |
The user work request (UWR) subsystem automates the process of submitting project specifications to JIMS. Using this system, project analysts can write their specifications using a basic word processing system, allow others to review it, modify it if necessary and finally submit the completed request. The request may be marked as an emergency if JIMS needs to give it priority. Users may perform inquiries on this system to find any UWR and see if it has been approved or rejected.
|
| Project Status Reporting Subsystem (PSR) | Top |
The project status reporting (PSR) subsystem tracks the status of all projects that have been accepted from the UWR subsystem and approved by the appropriate committees. It displays the number of hours estimated for completion of the project and the number that have actually been expended. Through twice-weekly status reports, the PSR subsystem allows JIMS management to track the progress of projects in need of attention. PSR reports are also sent to JIMS project analysts twice weekly to keep them informed of the status of their projects.

| Address Cross Reference Subsystem (ADX) | Top |
ADX is used to access name, address and phone number information for individuals and organizations in the greater Houston area. This data is provided by American Business Information and is extracted from sources such as the U.S. Census, Houston Lighting and Power and Southwestern Bell Telephone records.
|
| Vehicle Licensing Subsystem (VLN) | Top |
VLN is used to inquire on automobiles registered in Harris County and the seven surrounding counties: Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers, Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend and Waller. The records in this subsystem are from the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Austin. These records are updated monthly when computer tapes are sent to Harris County. Gradually, the DMV in Austin will include additional counties in the monthly updates.

| Law Enforcement Agency Job Applicant Subsystem (JAS) | Top |
Another SETCIC subsystem is the law enforcement agency job applicant subsystem (JAS), which was implemented in September 1993. Since it is common for applicants seeking law enforcement employment to apply to more than one agency, this system expedites applicant screening by making background-check information obtained by one agency available to the others.
