Subsystems are groups of programs and code tables that are classified according to the departments they serve and the tasks they perform.
There are currently a number of JIMS subsystems that continue to utilize COBOL programs and the original VSAM file structures in a CICS environment. JIMS has been migrating applications and database structures for several years using Computer Corporation of America's MODEL 204 as the primary database management system (DBMS). In the near future, rapid applications development (RAD) tools and distributed databases will be employed for mainframe, client/server and Inter/Intra-net applications.
